NASC 2024 Safety Report Released – NASC members report lower accident rates than comparable construction industry accident statistics supplied by the HSE.
Last month NASC released its hotly anticipated annual industry safety report. The trade body for access and scaffolding in the UK is widely viewed as setting the standard for safety in the scaffolding industry, diligently collating and analysing data and reports from its 400 plus members.
NASC – National Access & Scaffolding Confederation
The NASC 2024 Safety Report shows that the accident rates among NASC members are lower than those reported by the HSE for the construction industry as a whole. This indicates that choosing a NASC member for scaffolding services guarantees a safer and more compliant scaffold compared to those offered by non-regulated companies. The report underscores not only the consistent safety record among NASC members but also the body’s dedication to constant enhancement.
This comprehensive report is collated from the data of almost 17,000 scaffold and access workers across the UK. The report highlights that continued improvements in safety standards and processes have meant that in 2023, there were zero industry fatalities, and no reported accidents with members of the public.
The report highlighted that 80% of all accidents were attributed to three main areas, slips and trips, manual handling and falls from height, NASC go on to say that fall prevention continues to be its main priority with just 16 falls from height reported in 2023.
This report will certainly be well received by the wider construction industry and serves to highlight to clients who are looking to work with Scaffolding firms, that being members of NASC as we are here at Bee Jays offers significant advantages to ensuring the safety of all employees involved in projects requiring scaffolding, large or small.
