Hamilton’s Cladding – Harrogate

This was a high-profile multifaceted project based in the heart of the beautiful Spa town of Harrogate. We provided traditional tube and fitting scaffold scaffolding to cover the full length of the building for our client to strip and refurbish the external cladding. The building was a fully occupied residential property which also housed businesses, bars and restaurants which were going to be impacted by the works. Great care had to be taken to organise the scaffolding around a high rise building located in a very busy area of town with a heavy public footfall. The nature and shape of the building meant this was an extraordinarily complex scaffold design which we were delighted to have constructed with excellence. The building had 6 elevations and had scaffold based off a number of different street levels.

Bee Jays were on site from day one and played a crucial role in bringing the project in on time and on budget for our client. With Bee Jays regularly on site and working closely with the client we were able to foster outstanding relationships with all the other sub-contractor teams too. We were we often able to office share which allowed our client to make changes and decisions quickly and be as efficient as possible in meeting their own objectives. We were extremely proud to be part of the team and contribute to our client achieving an Outstanding award from the Considerate Construction Scheme.

My name is Nick Shaw and I was the Project Manager on a prestigious high rise external cladding refurbishment project in Harrogate, from the start in July 2023, until completion in May 2024.
The project took 10 months to complete and was completed on time and within budget and to the great satisfaction of our client, the building owners.
We employed the services of Bee Jay Scaffolding Ltd to design and erect a complex tube and fitting access scaffolding to the full height of the building, including fans, material storage decks, system staircase and passenger/materials hoist. The scaffolding was fully netted on all sides and had a waterproof canopy over the lift shaft overrun. Bee Jay Scaffolding also took care of applying for all licences required for the project as well as carrying out statutory weekly inspections.
The nature of the project, on a high rise, part residential, part commercial building in an area surrounded by bars and restaurants and various businesses, meant that we had to be very considerate of the community and general public, both within the building and surrounding us, in this busy part of Harrogate.
Bee Jay Scaffolding provided us with an excellent team of well supervised scaffolders with whom we had excellent working relationships. As a result, we received brilliant feedback from the residents and local businesses about our polite and professional team of scaffolders.
